Two of our members took part in the annual Brindle Cuckoo Walk on Saturday. Teresa Ball and Ian Barrow completed a NINE mile walk through some of the finest country side surrounding the village of Brindle.
This charity walk had an entrance fee, the money going to support ‘Brindle St James’ Church Windows’ Restoration Appeal’ and St Catherine’s Hospice. There was a choice of 4 walks of 3, 6 , 9 and 12 miles. Our two walkers (with their partners Lindsey & Philip) opted for the nine mile route.
The walk was “Led and Swept”, so their was no chance of getting lost or left behind. Leaving the Village Hall the walk headed South, crossing the canal following many little used path we arrived at the Lodges at Heapey for a well earned refreshment break.
Heading North, passing through Heapey, Wheelton and crossed the canal again at The top Lock. We followed our noses back to the Village Hall were Brindle WI provided a well deserved meal of meat & potato pie, mushy peas and gravy followed by a choice of scummy desserts.
